Nino mio...

Nino mio,

Grazie tanto, Nino mio !

Jacques

"My dear Nino,

I have well received the postcard you sent me from Taormina, on June 12, 1898.

There was no need for a long message. Just your name is enough, my dear Nino, your beautiful signature, handwritten in such a ethereal way, is like a circle around your name, like arms embracing a loved one. Your name is written upon the horizon of this photograph, like a cloud, between sea and sky, across the slopes of Mount Etna. Your name offers a meaning, an orientation to the scenic panorama to be seen through the ruins of the Greek Theater, where we spent so many times together.

I love also the dot carefully drawn after your name: Nino, dot. Anything else if just the foam of daze, a mist without any consequence.

Nino mio, Nino bello, the splendid photograph Wilhelm gave me reminds me so much your beauty, the music of your voice, the poetry of your singing Sicilian accent, the beauty of your face and the horizon of your gaze, a small inner theater which is the mirror of our feeling, fading in, fading out..."

Grazie tanto, Nino mio !

Jacques"
